Ring Mountain Nature Sketching
With John Muir Laws of the Nature Sketching group and Laurie Wigham of SF sketchers meetup group, we headed to Ring Mountain in Corte Madera on a beautiful May day.

| This is the Soap Plant that is growing in abundance all over the mountain. None of the flowers were in bloom. The Miwok Indians used it to make soap, as a colorant and a stupifying agent. |

| The Soap plant finally begins to bloom in the afternoon. Here is one opened waiting for pollination. |

Craft Warriors at the Asian Art Museum
We had two jewelry making tables for those who wanted to make adornments other than the beautiful armors that the participants could make (see next post) . We were so fortunate to have Flax Art Supply donate an abundance of wonderful textured papers. Here are two that I made.
![]() |
| Texture paper and colored staples...strips of paper left from cutting of the 3"X3" squares cut for the armors. |
![]() |
| I used the staples as a design element. |

| Red mizuhiki, craft felt, ribbon and brads... |
![]() |
| No glues so the knots and brads held everything in place. |
CRAFT WARRIORS
The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco had a wonderful event on April 18. The event, in conjunction with the Terracota Warrior show from China, was to mimic the armor worn by the Warriors. Four Artists came together to lead the participants to make armor with emphasis on either color or texture. Emiko Oye and Kathryn Kenworth lead the color group and Ealish Wilson and Megumi Inouye lead the texture group. I helped the texture group. The following are photos from that evening. It was great fun.

Asian Art Museum and Terracotta Warriors
A grand night at the Asian Art Museum with the Terracotta Warriors. The teams of crafters got together to share their creativity to produce armor with paper. We also made jewelry. Fun!
