Catarina Dolls for the Day of the Dead Celebration

Thirty participants took part in making Catarina Dolls for the San Francisco Symphony.  They will be on display for the Dia De Los Muertos Community Concert on November 1, 2014.  Aiko Cuneo lead the workshop at Ruth's Table with lots of embellishments, fabric and the armatures she made for all of us.  We fashioned our air clay covered heads and tissue bodies with them.  Aiko did so much preparation to make this work and even provided Mexican sweet bread for us to snack. Her husband also came to give a hand.  Ruth's Table and Lola Fraknoi provided lunch.  It was a great day.  Thank you all!

Here is the group made at this workshop.  The participants had such creative ideas.

My Wildflower Cards

Ruth's Table and Etsy are having an event this weekend which I cannot attend.  I thought I would contribute to Ruth's Table these cards I made.  The original pen drawings were done on letterpress cardstock and copied onto letterpress card stock to make mutiples.  I realized that the time I spent on each was too lengthy so I put my copier to good use.  The wildflowers are from my small farm, Um Tanto Bravo (a little wild), in Portugal. Here are a few examples.
Here I have finished them and are packaging them for sale.  I used Sakura Micron pens for all of my drawings.

The only greeting card...all are blank inside.

Copper Lamps for a Good Cause

The beginning of making the copper lamps with hammer, nails, cutter and wire on a foam core board, and a stylus to make marks.  Under the supervision and instructions by Aiko Cuneo, I was able to make these.
This was my first attempt with added beach glass marbles
My second attempt...

My last one.

This with a led candle in the center.  We used these lamps as centerpieces for the Ruth's Table fund raiser dinner.  They were sold at the end of the evening.

Paper Rose Project

These are some of the paper roses made that evening....

It was a success!  We had over 40 participants at the Tomoko Lipp Paper Rose workshop at Ruth's Table.  Tomoko, her friend Gladys, Monica Lee and I taught everyone how to make them.  Everyone went away with their own wonderful roses.  Lola Fraknoi and Megan of Ruth's table gave us a great meal.

We did it!  Thank you Tomoko and Lola!  me, Monica Lee, Tomoko, Megan and Lola

Ready, Set, Go...

The 8 girlfriends...they all did a wonderful job and all made 2 flowers!

Everyone was asked to help their friends after they learn to do the roses.
So here is Lily helping out some of the Bethany House residents.

And she didn't think she could do such a wonderful job!

She glowed with pride on the success of her flower.

Tomoko showed us how to make a gift box reusing soy milk cartons.
This is it with a paper rose.
