PHOTO SESSION FOR THE LOOK BOOK
We had a long 11 hour photo session with John Casado for the Look Books of the Macy's Fashion Incubator San Francisco. Marc Grant became a gaffer extraordinaire while I pinned, pressed and helped stage. Jeanne kept things rolling and Veronica made up the models. But, of course, John knew just how to get the models to move and how
to light them. It was quit an undertaking....over 600
shots...Now the designers have to decide which ones they want for their Look Books. It was a thrill to watch a master at work with his camera. He captured the best of each designers pieces.
WORKSHOP WITH MONICA DENGO
The Friends of Calligraphy was lucky to have Monica Dengo for a wonderful workshop and demonstration. 22 of us were able to take this 5 day experience of making art with rhythmic letter forms using the litho or cola pen. We all made our own pens before we use the sumi inks to cover our Arches text wove. Some of us were stressed at making letter forms that were not the traditional but as a basis for our artistic, and sometimes not, forms. The final pieces were made into Monica's wonderful book form..folded, Japanese binded and painted with watercolors and sometimes waxed.

RAFT WORKSHOP
Monica Lee and I taught at Resource Area For Teachers, raft.net. in Redwood City. We had very creative teachers attend, preschool to middle school. We taught them how to make gifts using repurposed and reclaimed materials. The cards in the following photos were made with discarded book pages. We made photo frames with old calendars, notebooks with paint chips, note and card holders with discarded paperback books, and many other things.

Macy's Fashion Incubator San Francisco
The last few months I have had the privilege of being a mentor at the Incubator with 6 designers. I am working with my good friend Jeanne Allen, the executive director and whose expertise is marketing. With Jeanne, her husband Marc, Roger Kase and others, we are helping these designers become marketable and productive. They are fortunate to have a wonderful workshop and office on the top floor of the Macy's Men's Building. See www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUSennSnY-c.
I was leaving to be the Artist In Residence for Camp Mather and the last day before I was to leave, the Incubator group gave me a wonderful potted orchid plant and yummy cupcakes to thank me for my help.
I am still mentoring......Things are coming along to be ready for a photo shoot and show..
