RAFT WORKSHOP

Monica Lee and I taught at Resource Area For Teachers, raft.net. in Redwood City.  We had very creative teachers attend, preschool to middle school.  We taught them how to make gifts using repurposed and reclaimed materials.  The cards in the following photos were made with discarded book pages.  We made photo frames with old calendars, notebooks with paint chips, note and card holders with discarded paperback books, and many other things.

Macy's Fashion Incubator San Francisco

The last few months I have had the privilege of being a mentor at the Incubator with 6 designers.  I am working with my good friend Jeanne Allen, the executive director and whose expertise is marketing.  With Jeanne, her husband Marc, Roger Kase and others, we are helping these designers become marketable and productive.  They are fortunate to have a wonderful workshop and office on the top floor of the Macy's Men's Building.  See www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUSennSnY-c.

I was leaving to be the Artist In Residence for Camp Mather and the last day before I was to leave, the Incubator group gave me a wonderful potted orchid plant and yummy cupcakes to thank me for my help.
I am still mentoring......Things are coming along to be ready for a photo shoot and show..

CAMP MATHER CO-ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

With Randi Merzon, I was a Co-Artitst In Residence forCamp Mather week 6.  Randi did the drama part and I did the arts and crafts part.  In the area near Yosemite and the Hetch Hetchy is Camp Mather.  A beautiful area for a summer week vacation.  I had 159 participants in my art workshops not including 2 morning workshops for tie dyeing.  I had a great time meeting nice people. Here are a few photos from the workshops.

Stern Grove and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band

The San Francisco Sketchers got together this last Sunday at a free Concert at Stern Grove.  This year marks the 75th anniversary of free Summer Sunday concerts.  Although the weather was cool and wet, the sketchers camaraderie and goodies warmed the soul.  We had lots to sketch and paint; people, trees, crowds, hats, picnic and two bands.  Everyone had their own wonderful techniques.  A few new people joined in and our two picnic blankets were perfect.  We all seem to learn something new from each other every time we meet.  Here are a few sketches I did...just OK, using various mediums.  I had lots of fun listening and swinging with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band tho....
The many variety of hats worn by the audience..

The crowd on the back ledges watching the show.
A few picnickers waiting for the show to begin.

Piccolo Reception for Mark Ulrikson

The only photo I took at Mark's reception of his wonderful art...so many people!  The top piece showed up on his facebook.  I liked it the best of his dog series...He is such a great artist/illustrator markulrikson.com .  So good to hear that his  Birds of a Feather cover was  included in the New Yorker's 100 covers from 10 decades.  Congratulations Mark!

San Francisco's Correspondence Co-op

We had a great time at the Birthday Party of the San Francisco's Correspondence Co-op.  The attendees collaged and stamped the 'exquisite corpse" which was later cut up by Jennie Hinchcliff (redletterdayzine) and sent to all of us who attended.  It was a FUN party!

Back of the postcard...This is the one I received...So glad I attended.  The happy birthday stamp was a gift from Jennie when we were at the party.
